Morrisville Oxbow Park, end of Portland St, Morrisville VT
The [formerly WDEV] Radio Rangers will be appearing this year at Morristown's summer concert series titled "Wednesday Night Live" held in the Oxbow Park bandshell at the end of Portland St., Morrsville and they will be the season opener. The Rangers go back to 1986 when they were first formed as a "live radio band" on WDEV, Waterbury with a 15 min show every Saturday morning and local sponsorship. The WDEV Radio Rangers eventually ended the radio show, but kept the name, dropping the "WDEV" prefix. The Rangers now consist of Danny Coane (of The Starline Rhythm Boys; formerly of The Throbulators and other groups) on acoustic rhythm guitar/banjo/vocals, Dave Rowell (formerly of The Craftsbury Vibrations and now Rick & the Ramblers) on electric bass/vocals; Colin McCaffrey, well know/recognized songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer and record producer as well as front man of The Stone Cold Roosters, on electric lead guitar/vocals and Jim Pitman, highly recognized and respected pedal steel and dobro man on both those instruments, as well as vocals. The Rangers feature vintage country material, as well as some rockabilly and bluegrass thrown in. The Rangers are very well known in Lamoille County, as well as surrounding counties from their years of work on their WDEV radio show and always put on a good show for any audience. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. Food vendors on site. They hope for good weather and a good turnout.
